Nonlinear Energy Field Pupillary Response
- Sep, 08
Consciousness studies have become more sophisticated and include advances in technology that can detect, measure, and image neuronal functioning. Today, for the most part, theories on consciousness retain the basic assumption that consciousness is a product of neuronal activity and a local phenomenon. Currently, the most widely used tool in consciousness research is the application of functional magnetic resonance imaging that displays specific cortical areas which light up during physical or mental tasking.
Dr. Carol Davis
In the pupillary study, a different set of premises is presented. Consciousness is considered to be an immense field of energy in which everything that exists, exists as energy/information. Energies vibrating at the linear end of this great spectrum are measurable. Nonlinear energies, which cannot be measured with our linear instrumentation, are the vibrations of thoughts, ideas, concepts, symbols, actions, intentions, experiences, sensations, etc. This is considered to be the content of our mind. Consciousness, then, is all that is linear and nonlinear. Our physicality usually operates in the linear spectrum while our mind or consciousness awareness primarily operates in the nonlinear spectrum. Our conscious awareness is nonlocal, and hence defies being measured as a linear form. However, the nonlinear facilitates the functioning of the linear, which is where traditional science is at its best in its investigations.
The pupillary response, an involuntary physiologic response, was used in the current study as a measure of the effect of nonlinear energy on linear physiology. It was found that there indeed appears to be a consistent involuntary pupillary response to hidden stimuli, and the process facilitated by the act of intention. Positive energy leads to pupillary constriction, while negative energy leads to pupillary dilation. The size and nature of ocular pupils are revealing what is occurring in both our conscious and unconscious awareness! And by shifting our view on the source of conscious awareness from inside the skull to a general field of energy, many of the seemingly unexplained puzzles in current models of consciousness can be answered.
Sacred Spiritual Sexuality
- Oct, 08
Sex can trigger profound altered states of mind. This can occur intentionally or involuntarily. All human beings possess the ability to go into such altered or transcendent states through sexual activity. Those states resemble the ones described in various spiritual traditions from indigenous and shamanic to the perennial contemplative paths. Such experiences can convince people they have discovered profound truths, their soulmate, or love. Evoking sexual energies can also produce states associated with very early consciousness that come from pre and parinatal times and from early infancy, and can also provoke healing.
Stephanie Wadell, M.A. and Jenny Wade, Ph.D.
What do we know about the neurology of such spiritual experiences and their relationship to sexual experiences? Two doctors using single-photon emission computed tomography concluded that the brain circuitry for transcendence is borrowed from the neural circuitry of sexual response. They suggested that the neurological structures and pathways involved in transcendent experience originally evolved by linking sexual climax to the powerful sensations of orgasm.
Dr. Wade will discuss the spontaneous altered states that occur during sex. Ms. Wadell will discuss sexual healing and sexual rites of passage that ensure mature sex, love, intimacy, and success as an adult in society. She will expound on how the heart, mind, spirit, and soul can heal and contribute to the interconnectedness of all that is as sexuality becomes spiritual and sacred.
Dr. Jenny Wade is a developmental psychologist and researcher specializing in consciousness studies. Her research focuses on how people change, especially as a result of access to unusual states of consciousness during life. Her research on spontaneous altered states during sex formed the basis for her book, Transcendent Sex: When Lovemaking Opens the Veil, and appears in academic journals and anthologies. Dr. Wade serves as a professor of doctoral studies at ITP and as a consciousness consultant (www.transcendentsex.org).
Stephanie Wadell (MA in Counseling Psychology, USF) has worked as a sexual surrogate partner since 1987 and is certified by IPSA and BASA. She wrote the book Spiritual Sexual Shamanism. She is co-founder, chief, guide, elder, and leader of the 13 Healing Moons of the Great Turtle Mystery School of Shamanic Healings, Ceremonies, and Rites of Passage. She works with the energies of sexual healing from the Quodoushka FireWoman traditions -- a Metis (mixed blood) lineage from tribes of the Cherokee Nation and Mayan People (www.GreatTurtleMysterySchool.net), (www.mswsacredjourneys.net).
Spontaneous Evolution: Our Positive Future Now
- Nov, 08
Amazon.com Editorial Review: We've all heard of people who experience a seemingly miraculous recovery from illness--but can the same thing happen for our whole world? According to pioneering biologist Bruce H. Lipton, it's not only possible, but it is already happening. In his newest audio release, Spontaneous Evolution: Our Positive Future and How to Get There from Here, this world-renowned expert in the emerging science of epigenetics reveals how our changing understanding of biology will help us navigate this turbulent period in our planet's history, and how each of us can participate in this global shift. In collaboration with political scientist Steve Bhaerman, Dr. Lipton invites listeners to explore: 1) Toppling the unquestionable" pillars of biology: a startling re-examination of random evolution, survival of the fittest, the role of DNA, and the relationship between mind and matter, 2) How our beliefs about nature and human nature shape our politics, culture, and individual lives, and 3) A prescription for change: how each of us can become active members of the "immune system" of the planet. The experts agree: humankind is at a crossroads. What is the key to healing our planet? As Dr. Lipton and Steve Bhaerman explain, by changing the old beliefs that got us where we are today, we can trigger the spontaneous evolution of our species that will usher in a brighter future.
Dr. Bruce Lipton
( note: Steve Bhaerman is not appearing with Dr Lipton at the FMBR meeting )
Bruce H. Lipton, Ph.D. began his scientific career as a cell biologist. He received his Ph.D. Degree from the University of Virginia at Charlottesville before joining the Department of Anatomy at the University of Wisconsins School of Medicine in 1973. In 1982, Dr. Lipton began examining the principles of quantum physics and how they might be integrated into his understanding of the cells information processing systems. He produced breakthrough studies on the cell membrane, which revealed that this outer layer of the cell was an organic homologue of a computer chip, the cells equivalent of a brain. His research at Stanford Universitys School of Medicine, between 1987 and 1992, revealed that the environment, operating though the membrane, controlled the behavior and physiology of the cell, turning genes on and off. His discoveries, which ran counter to the established scientific view that life is controlled by the genes, presaged one of todays most important fields of study, the science of epigenetics. Two major scientific publications derived from these studies defined the molecular pathways connecting the mind and body. Many subsequent papers by other researchers have since validated his concepts and ideas.
Do High Frequency Brainwaves from the Forehead Region Correlate with Higher Consciousness?

Do High Frequency Brainwaves from the Forehead Region Correlate with Higher Consciousness?
Beverly Rubik, Ph.D
In ancient India, the higher chakras were represented by lotus flowers with greater numbers of petals than the lower ones. Do the larger number of flower petals symbolize higher frequencies that may be associated with higher states of consciousness? Previous studies show that high frequency brainwaves (40 Hz; gamma band) from the forehead (prefrontal cortex of the brain) correlated with enhanced states of oneness and compassion in advanced Tibetan Buddhist meditators. Recent research has shown that the brain emits higher frequencies than were ever considered before. Are these related to higher consciousness?
In our study, we compared advanced meditators practicing transcendental meditation with non-meditating controls using neurofeedback with the Peak Achievement Trainer (PAT). PAT is a novel type of neurofeedback that can assess and train various dimensions of mental processing, including a clarified 40-Hz brainwave, in which signal artifact from muscle tension or movement is filtered out.
Real-time auditory and/or visual neurofeedback of this clarified 40-Hz brainwave was given to subjects in a controlled laboratory setting. Subjects were asked to do the following tasks: (1) to explore the 40-Hz experience and to subsequently describe it in their own words; (2) to engage in several different moods as described to them by a sequence of words, and to decide, using neurofeedback, whether these moods correlated with the 40-Hz experience; (3) to engage in a neutral state to measure baseline values of 40 Hz; and (4) to produce maximum values of 40 Hz using neuro-feedback. The results showrf important similarities and differences between meditators and controls and will be presented and discussed. The 40-Hz emission from the forehead region appears to involve highly positive emotional states with reduced stress. Transcendental meditators proved to have much greater facility in achieving 40 Hz in a single neurofeedback session than controls. The Saturday sessions will offer the first of a series of individual sessions with the neuro-feedback instrument.

A live video link with the Institute of Biosensory Psychology in Russia:
community in the realm of telekinesis and
the exciting scientific field of Biosensory
- Feb 09
At our February meeting we will establish a live video link with the Institute of Biosensory Psychology in St. Petersburg, Russia and engage in an interactive discussion concerning recent advances in telekinesis and a very interesting branch of modern science that was born at this Institute called Biosensory Psychology. In 2008 the Institute of Biosensory Psychology was awarded a Guinness world record in the nomination of the largest community of people that were taught in the shortest period of time the skills of telekinesis (moving objects without contact). There have been over 250 registered telekinesis practitioners that participated in the record. At the present time training of groups is conducted with an almost 100% success rate.
Biosensory Psychology is a new science that was born in St. Petersburg, Russia as a result of many years of research and observations under the guidance of Vladimir Tonkov. It is based on the fact of registering repeatability and trainability of the phenomena of psychokinesis as the most demonstrative example of the material manifestation of the psyche, which under the interpretation of classical psychological doctrine acts as an ideal (non-material) component of a human being.
The term biosensory is based on an interconnection of two word meaning elements: bio from the Greek bios (life), meaning in relation to biological objects; and sense from the Latin sentire (to perceive; feel), meaning by application of the sensing apparatus.
About the Institute:
The Institute of Biosensory Psychology, St. Petersburg, Russia is a non-commercial private educational institution providing additional professional education and training in fields of biosensory psychology, bioenergy informational studies, healing, breathwork and paranormal practices. The Institute has carried on its activity under different organizational forms since 1993. In that time period approximately 100,000 people have undergone studies.
Its main activity includes:
- Education activity, including seminars, advanced training and professional development in the field of practice of natural human biosensory abilities. Areas of study include subjects such as perception, sensitivity, thought, including that of psychic practice, healing and energy informational exchange and much more, through standard programs and individual custom-tailored ones, including training and re-training of Russian and foreign specialists.
- Social, educational (enlightenment) and research activity connected with the study, promotion and development of these areas for study and work in Russia and abroad.
- Organization, administration and participation in scientific and practical conferences on topics of biosensory studies, healing, energy informational exchange and adjacent areas, including on an international level. - Participation in legislative processes within the Russian Federation regarding questions of creation and improvement of the legal grounds regulating folk medicine, as well as realization and improvement of due enforcement of these regulations in healing practice in Russia.
- Other related activity tied to instilment of biosensory studies, practice and professions into contemporary society.
CONSCIOUSNESS OF THE HEART
- Mar, 09
Beyond the idea that the mind can be connected with the heart, there lies the reality of the living heart-consciousness, or, as Sufi would say, a taste of the heart-self. While many people have the direct spontaneous experience of this Heart-consciousness, it can also open through spiritual practices such as the Christian Prayer of the Heart, the Vedantic Atma-Vichara, or the Islamic Dhikr of Divine Names. Leading to the direct, pre-reflective, immediate apperception of the realities of the Heart-consciousness, these practices were considered to be esoteric and hidden from the uninitiated. Traditionally, self-awareness rising from these practices served as a source of depth-psychological and spiritual insights, archetypal revelations, and esoteric self-knowledge.
Even though Heart-consciousness is richly reflected in linguistic metaphors and represented in art and in the perennial philosophy, it is only modestly explored by science. Scientific investigations were mainly concerned with the anatomical heart as a possible substratum of the mind, and its connection with emotions, altruism and compassion. From our perspective, based on the research philosophy of Merleau-Ponty, consciousness of the heart can be successfully studied scientifically only after the structures of consciousness are identified and described. To that end, we conducted phenomenological analysis of the consciousness of the heart using methods of Edmund Husserl and Anna-Teresa Tymieniecka. Data streams in the study included accounts of contemporary meditators (n > 300), accounts of experts in spiritual traditions cultivating consciousness of the heart, accounts of people with spontaneous awakening of the heart, traditional texts such as Philokalia or Tarjuman al-Ashwaq by Ibn al-Arabi, and the first person introspective data obtained by the author. Results show that consciousness of the heart is constituted within two major conditions, egological (including the notion of individual self), and non-egological, which possibly serve as the experiential origins of two powerful trends in spirituality which are based on the notion of Reality as the self (Vedanta), and as the no- self (Theravada Buddhism). The egological condition, i.e. consciousness of the self in the heart, is organized in five major domains, related to the imaginal worlds, and individual and collective aspects of ones psyche. Intentional constitution of these five domains is organized around the center of subtle consciousness known as Qalb in Sufism, and the Spiritual Heart in Hesychasm (Eastern and early Christian mysticism). The Spiritual heart serves as a junction between the consciousness of separateness, and consciousness of totality or oneness. Phenomenological architecture of self-awareness in the heart is in the process of constant becoming and renewal, which presents limitless possibilities of positive self-transformation. The talk will address the results of phenomenological investigations of the consciousness of the heart, and, time permitting, will introduce guided meditations on the heart which are helpful in individual transformative work.

INSIDE THE REVOLUTION IN ALTERNATIVE HEALING:
New insight into our bodies, minds and health
- Apr, 09
Returning from a sold out Premier in London, our April speaker will be Greg Becker who will present and discuss his full-length film, The Living Matrix - The Science of Healing (http://thelivingmatrixmovie.com). The film gives an up-close look at the science of information as medicine. Leading researchers and health practitioners share their discoveries on the "miracle cures" traditional medicine can't explain. Modern biochemical medicine has no framework for explaining these events, often dismissing them as spontaneous remissions or the result of some kind of placebo effect. But what if we had the scientific basis to not only explain the phenomenon, but the means to deliberately initiate these miracle cures in ourselves?
Leaders in science are examining the body through the lens of quantum physics. Theyve discovered that we're far more than biochemical machines. Instead, our cells are senders and receivers of information, controlling our health in ways we never imagined. How can we account for these cases, and many others like them? The Living Matrix film is the first to bring together academic and independent researchers, practitioners, and science journalists to respond to these questions, including:
Adam DreamHealer, BSc, Molecular biologist, NHPC certified energy healer, international speaker and author.
Dr. Eric Pearl, Internationally known healer, teacher and author of the bestselling book, "The Reconnection: Heal Others, Heal Yourself".

BREATHWORK AND SPIRITUAL PURIFICATION
- May, 09
At our May meeting we are glad to have the founder of Rebirthing Breathwork and a teacher of over 30 years, Leonard Orr. Leonard has deep experience and research with the field of breathwork over the past three decades and will discuss what he has found and the implications of this research for ones health and spiritual development. The focus will be on the importance of breathwork.
What is breathwork? The breathwork process releases the emotional, negative charge of our cell memory. The process causes integration of unresolved emotional, physical, mental and spiritual energies. The primary result is an experience of clarity at a very core level. The process empowers a person into choice and out of victimhood.
By learning to use breathing as a highly transformational tool (conscious connected circular breathing), you will learn how to free your physical and emotional body from energetic blockages resulting from traumatic or suppressed experiences. Regular practice will energize you, enhance your wellbeing, your prosperity and support the growth of spiritual awareness.
Breathwork or Rebirthings predominant characteristic is simplicity. Rebirthing starts with lying down, relaxing and breathing. Long and careful attention to the relaxed breath will reveal a many-layered pattern of inhibitions and exposes our unconscious patterns of defense against pleasure and aliveness. When these are noticed (no longer unconscious) we can neutralize and integrate these patterns of past-time tension by breathing through them with present time awareness of safety. It offers a gentle and effective way to reveal the latent pristine state of body and consciousness which we all experienced in the pre-natal time and which was pushed back by the shocks of birth and early relationships. Our relationships can be clear and complete only when we dissolve our resistance (conscious or subconscious) to having that ideal condition. Unconscious birth memories bar the way as a closed portal on the path back to bliss. Breathwork will help you find the key to unlock that door.
Leonard Orr is the founder of Rebirthing Breathwork, a system of breathing used for spiritual purification that has spread to six continents world-wide and has served over ten million people. Leonard has been training and teaching people who are interested in expanding their aliveness and bliss since the 70's. He is the author of a number of books including Breaking the Death Habit : The Science of Everlasting Life and Rebirthing in the New Age. Along with such folk heroes as Ram Dass, Fritz Perls, and Timothy Leary, Leonard Orr is one of the originators and elders of what we term today as the New Age movement.
